    I watched another guys video that showed the bag attempt just like this and he said it not only did not work but even showed carpenter bees fling closely around it. So I just made some cheap and easy to construct bee traps using a block of wood and a jar.

    • @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead
      @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead 6 дней назад

      @gregatkinson7276 it takes a couple days for the bees to figure out what's going on. They leave a scent behind, and if they smell it, they try to go back to that area. They now sell paper nests at big box stores that look realistic. I just like this cheap method and it's always worked for me.

    What about the skin in tomatoes? Does the skin soften up? Or do i have to use a blender afterwards?

    I am no expert, but you might try growing a zucchini plant in self watering containers. I grow tomatoes , sweet potatoes and some squash in the containers. The plants love having a basin of water beneath them to feed off. my squash still get slaughtered by borers though.

  • @inhibited44

    I am 60+ years old and just learned the other day something that probably eliminates the bugs. I asked a few local farmers when I was buying eggs what they do. They said they have no problem with insects. I live a mile from them and get annihilated by insects in my garden. The farmers both rototill the soil. Tilling the soil must just beat the larvae in the ground to death. I am going to try tilling my soil next year. After conversing with the farmers I looked up tilling and squash borers. It should at least control the bugs

    • @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead
      @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead 7 дней назад

      @inhibited44 I till the soil twice a year. I till in the early spring, and late fall. The squash vine borers aren't a problem. It's the flying bugs that hatch from eggs. I wish you the best with your garden next year. Good luck 💜

    • @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead
      @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead 9 дней назад

      @anniemomma5389 your water needs to come to a boil before you put the jars in. Keep your water boiling at all times. It makes sure you have a perfect/safe jar of food.

    • @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead
      @TheBigBlueHouseHomestead 13 дней назад

      @926kissthis the way the eggs are layer, the bottoms are open. So when they are rubbed off, it kills them. Plus rubbing them off kinda smashes them too.
